Associate Professor: Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the preceding degree, with a very good academic record throughout. Minimum 6 years of teaching/research/industrial अनुभव.

Assistant Professor: Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the preceding degree, with a very good academic record throughout. Minimum 3 years of teaching/research/industrial अनुभव.

भाप्रबंसं शिलाँग को भारत के पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र में अच्छी गुणवत्ता प्रबंधन शिक्षा और अनुसंधान प्रदान करने की दृष्टि से स्थापित किया गया है। पूर्वोत्तर राज्यों के मुख्यमंत्रियों के साथ जून 2004 के दौरान शिलाँग में आयोजित एक समीक्षा बैठक में केन्‍द्रीय मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री के साथ पूर्वोत्तर में भारतीय प्रबंधन संस्थान के स्‍थापित करने का फैसला सर्वसम्मति से लिया गया। पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र विकास मंत्रालय (डोनर) और क्षेत्र के राज्यों के मुख्यमंत्रियों के बीच परामर्श के बाद संस्थान के लिए शिलाँग को स्थायी स्थान के रूप में मय किया गया।
