Skills / Eligibility

Online applications are invited from eligible young, bright and highly motivated individuals for the following position to work at this Institute under UVIT-POC Project:

1. Position: Research Trainee

2. No. of position : One

3. Remuneration : Rs. 30,000/- per month (Consolidated)

4. Place of Posting : Bengaluru

5. Qualification :

M.Sc in Physics / Astronomy/Astrophysics with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade (aggregate) from a UGC recognized University/Institution. Candidates should have good knowledge of Python programming language, knowledge and/or अनुभव in handling data from astronomical instruments.

6. Scope of work :

To provide software development support for specialized analysis of data from the Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (UVIT, onboard AstroSat). The selected candidate will also handle the routine reduction of UVIT data using the data pipeline system, and work on any other tasks that are of use to the UVIT user community and extraction of science using data from UVIT.

Selection Procedure

1. The prescribed educational qualifications are minimum required and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview.

2. Where the number of applications received in response to the advertisement is large and it will not be convenient or possible for the Institute to interview all those candidates, the Institute reserves the right to limit number of candidates to be called for interview on the basis of qualifications and अनुभव higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement and also conducting written test
